Allow me to paint my current situation for you: Lily is going H.A.M. in her jumper, I’m cooking in my St. Tropez Express tan, drinking cold coffee, and watching Live with Kelly & Ryan. I like to think that I bring the down-to-earth side of our blogging duo because let’s be real…Kailey is the fabulous Texas version of Carrie Bradshaw (without the scandalous behavior). Although even with the unfancy portions of my life that mamahood brings, I love being a mama and every single second I get with my girl.
Speaking of mamahood, let’s talk about my outfit. I now completely understand the “barely awake but functioning” feeling that most super mom’s feel, but I stand firm in the simple fact that you don’t have to look like you feel INSIDE on the outside. My go-to hiding any lack of sleep is a good, easy outfit. Even when I don’t have time to put a lot of effort into my hair or makeup, this look is really my go-to. Cute top, comfy but flattering jeans, and sandals or mules. I’m practically living in these J. Crew vintage crops because the high waist is so flattering and they have the perfect amount of looseness in the leg. My top is Madwell, and I’m juuuuust slightly obsessed with this store. I buy A LOT of my staple pieces there, and their sale section never disappoints. I’ve linked all of my outfit details and beauty products that help me not look like a zombie with a baby on its hip! My tote is also from Madwell, and it is on SALE! It’s the perfect size to carry your needs + baby’s. My top only has large and xlarge so I have also linked some of my other favorite tops, too! Regardless though, if you’re a mama, you’re killing it…messy bun and sweat pants and all.
Kailey and I are going on an overnight girls trip to Austin on Sunday, and we are really excited to spend some overdue time relaxing with friends. However, please pray for my sweet Jacob who will be enduring his first night alone with Miss Lily! Lord knows she’s sweet, but boy can she be sour going down for bed! Happy Friday!

Charleston has been at the top of my list of places to go to and I’m so happy I got to experience all it had to offer with my blogger babes Lauren of Life to Lauren and Dede of Dressup Buttercup! The town was so southern and full of charm: vintage stores, shrimp & grits in every restaurant, brick roads, sweet hospitality, and historic architecture. I mean, the wrap around porches and oyster bars on every corner is enough to make you want to relocate to this adorable city! Don’t worry, travel guide is coming soon! If you just can’t wait, Dede has one here and Lauren has one here! 🙂
How is it already half way through June?! Is Fourth of July really two weeks away?! Time flies when you’re having fun…and adulting! Growing up, my grandparents had a beautiful lake house where we spent every weekend, every holiday, and the entire summer! Let me just tell you, Nana & Poppa throw one hell of a Fourth of July party! About 150 people from the neighborhood would come up in their boats and golf carts and spend the entire day playing volleyball in the yard, throwing horseshoes, grilling, and swimming. It was always so fun to see my grandparents entertain and I remember thinking “when I’m big, I’m going to throw a party just like this!” I haven’t quite lived up to that but I do throw a really fun Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show watch party! We have to work our way up, right?!
I always love preparing my July 4th get up! Not quite sure what my plans are yet but I know I will be sporting this red bodysuit with some high waisted shorts! I love that it’s off the shoulder to show off my fresh fake tan (I shared in my last post what I use to tan) and the ruffle detail covers my ta-ta’s because I hate wearing a bra in the summer. TMI? Just sharing my summer hacks!
I must tell y’all about these mom jeans that I can’t seem to stop wearing! I’ve said several times on the blog that I HATE shopping for jeans. When I find a pair that meets all the criteria and checks all the boxes, I buy them without question! Luckily, these jeans won’t break the bank! Super light and a great fit around the waist with plenty of room through the legs – just how I like’em!
I absolutely loved Lauren and Dede’s looks! Lauren’s dress is exactly what I think of for a cute but casual dress for Fourth of July! I can totally see her sitting on the lawn with a cold drink and watching fireworks in that blue and white plaid! So darling! I’m a sucker for all white outfits and I absolutely love the bow on Dede’s blouse! It definitely dresses up the outfit without it overtaking the look! I have such stylish friends 🙂
What are your plans for the Fourth? Whatever they end up being, I hope you get to eat plenty of watermelon, maybe run through a sprinkler or two, and spend it with people that you love and all those that are proud to be an American!

Happy Tuesday! I’m absolutely loving the East Coast while Hailey and I stay with her sister-in-law, Sarah! We flew with H’s Lily girl and Sarah’s baby girl, Evie, and they both did so good on the flight! Hailey will be doing a traveling with a baby post soon so catch that on Instagram! The weather is absolutely beautiful and the fact that there is no humidity (we’re from Houston and the humidity is real) makes me SO happy! Yesterday we went shopping in historic New Bern, North Carolina, and I found the cutest little teacups in an antique shop! I have built-in shelves in my new apartment and I think they will be the perfect home for my little finds! Also, the food has been so good, and us little girls like to eat our way through trips!
Summer is officially here which that means I actually have to shave my legs every other day and lather on the St. Tropez! I’m extremely fair complected, and I love that it doesn’t make me look orange or streaky! I apply it all over with their mitt and then wash it off in 3 hours, and it gives you the perfect sun kissed glow! I can usually keep it looking fresh and even for about a week with lots of moisturizing! And if you really want to take the Carrie Underwood legs to the extreme, this airbrush body make upis the best! I used this while in LA. Chelsea hosed me down in the shower, and I felt like J.Lo! My legs seriously looked flawless! I’m covered in bruises and it covered every single one of them! Another tip for summer legs: I’m always standing on my tippy toes, doing calve raises, or squats when I’m doing my make up and hair! As women we wear many hats, and that leaves little time to go to the gym! Doing a little exercise here and there when you have a chance truly makes a difference!
This skirt is giving me all the beachy and vacay vibes! I love that it’s a wrap skirt and could easily be thrown over a bathing suit or dress it up for a night out! I’ve been loving fun prints lately and the palm tree print is no exception! Most maxi skirts can cost you a pretty penny but this one is only $18 and you can achieve multiple looks out of it! I call that a win in my book!
Happy First Anniversary to Jacob and I! This first year of marriage has been the best, hardest year of my life, and I couldn’t imagine doing it while holding anyone else’s hand but his. We’ve seen so many milestones in this short amount of time as a married couple: new jobs, pregnancy, bringing our first little angel Earth side, another new job, and so many ups and downs in between. As our time as newlyweds was limited, I feel so honored and blessed to get to witness Jacob being a daddy to our Lily Rae. God most certainly created Jacob to be Lily girl’s favorite person in the world, and to see her smile when he walks into the room is only a fraction of proof of how much God loves his children. I’m the luckiest bride to have him, and as much as I tell him I’m going to give him back (LOL) I still get the same butterflies that I did on our first date four years ago. So here’s to being Jacob’s forever bride in all of life’s valleys and peaks together.
So in honor of our first anniversary…
I’m SO happy to finally be sharing a few of our favorite photos from our wedding album here on the blog. I had the most amazing vendors bring my vision to life, and I couldn’t have been happier looking back on our most beautiful day.
Here’s a breakdown to all of my vendors and wedding details! We balled on a major budget, and that should definitely not be a reason to compromise on what’s important to you!
For makeup and hair, Kailey did all of the beautifying for the day, and she killed it! We’re so blessed to work in this industry (holla to our dream team of a company, Sunkissed & Made Up), and I’m more than proud (and maybe a little cocky) to say that I had the best of the best. I have to give Kay a very special “thank you.” Like the wonder woman she is, she did all of the hair and makeup for all seven of my bridesmaids, mom, mother-in-law, and grandmothers with a dislocated shoulder. Major props to this forever soul mate of mine. I didn’t have a particular hair or makeup look for each of my girls, I simply asked for them to choose romantic and soft styles! Braids, glowy skin, bronze eyes…perfection.
I went with a Courtney Leigh Photography, and I truly mean it when I say Courtney Brown is probably the sweetest, most genuine, creative girl you’ll ever meet. She became fast and dear friends of Kailey and mine, and we absolutely adore her. Besides all of that, she does stunning film photography. That was definitely something that I wasn’t going to compromise as I love fine art film photography, and she absolutely captured the day perfectly with her artistry and shooting style.
Chad Cornwall from Flower Power Productions was the genius behind my florals, and he NAILED it. I asked for lush, overflowing bouquets and arrangements, and that’s exactly what this amazing perfectionist gave me! Chad is amazing to work with, and he absolutely understood my style and vision. His creations were way more magical than I could have ever hoped for!
Natalie Holland of Jade Magnolia was the magical unicorn behind my STUNNING cakes! She not only gave me one cake, but three! All three were beautiful and so yummy! She also helped with styling the reception and coordinating the flow of events, and she was the absolute sweetest to work with! I’m so sad to say that her cute little family have moved back to California. So for all of our West Coast readers, she is hands down so amazing!
You would never have known if you weren’t there, but the Texas sky decided to open it’s flood gates right as our ceremony was ending. We held the reception at Jacob’s childhood home, and we had no plans for a Plan B if the weather decided to turn on us. We ended up cramming 120 guests in my in-law’s shop for the first hour of the reception! It was madness. However, the champagne was being poured, the guests were having an amazing time visiting with everyone, and I was married to my forever person so I would say it was still pretty perfect. When the rain stopped, our amazing family, friends, and vendors rallied together and was able to seamlessly set up our backyard reception area just as I had envisioned it.
The day magical, and so is our life together. Happy Anniversary to my soulmate and man candy, Jacob. I love you.
Happy Saturday, party people! Tomorrow Hailey and I are headed to New Bern, North Carolina to spend a few days with H’s sister-in-law, Sarah! Lily Rae and her cousin, Evelyn Grace, will be getting in some one on one cousin bonding time and I will be giving their mama’s a little break! Therefore I will be changing diapers and making them my special margaritas! I know, I’m the best aunt ever!
This recipe has been passed down to me from my mama and I’ve put my own little twist on it – adding a whole jalapeño! I love that it’s really easy to make and has minimal ingredients, I’m all about simple! If a cocktail is too complicated or takes too long to mix, sister is going to pass! I made these spicy margaritas for Cinco de Mayo and they were such a hit! The spice is always optional, but I think it makes the drink and it’s a little unexpected for your guests! I also sometimes add a little pineapple juice if I’m feeling extra sassy! As a hostess, you got to keep it interesting 🙂
2 cans of frozen lime juice
Tequila of choice
1 medium size jalapeno
Fill blender with ice a little over half way.
Pour in 2 cans of frozen lime juice.
Don’t throw away your cans, you will use one of them as a measuring cup.
Fill half way with tequila.
Fill a quarter way of Triple Sec.
Fill a quarter way of Grand Marnier.
Pour the entire can into the blender.
Chop a jalapeño and put into blender. This steps is optional, but if you leave out the jalapeño then it’s not really sassy or spicy. Just sayin’.
Blend till completely mixed.
Serve them up with a little lime and jalapeño garnish and voila!
I told you they’re super easy to make! I’ve also linked some fun bar cart accessories and entertaining items below! Enjoy!
