“I wish I’d known to trust my instincts more, but that’s just life, though. When a red flag comes up and you ignore it because you’re trying to be nice or keep things easy, I’ve learned not to do that. I’ve really realized I don’t need to be a people pleaser. I don’t need to give anyone else’s opinions more weight than my own. My opinions should matter the most because they’re mine. And if your opinions are formed from a place of genuine honesty and kindness for others, then your opinions are worth defending – and now I do.” – Sophia Bush
I’ve been kind of living by this lately.
Hey, loves! It’s K! Spending this lovely Saturday night in because this little storm called Patricia is making it’s way across Texas! It’s actually not little. It’s the biggest hurricane/storm that has ever been recorded in history. WOW. That’s insane to me. I had a really fabulous day at Hotel ZaZa working with the most precious and sweet bridal party and even though they reminded me why I love my job oh so much, I seriously couldn’t wait to get out of the storm, get in my bed, light my Bath and Body Works “Caramel Pumpkin Swirl” candle, and watch a movie. Pure heaven. Sometimes it’s good to take it slow and just RELAX. It’s a new thing for me and I’m soaking it all in!
Here’s a simple and sweet outfit from Topshop/Nordstorm! The dress is from the store itself and I really loved the way it fit. It was so effortless and you can dress it up with heels like I did for my evening out in San Marcos, TX or if I was going for a more casual look I would’ve worn my fav fringe booties! I found the vest at Nordstrom on sale that was originally $85 but snagged it for $23.99 on sale. Steal. I’m so obsessed with it. And it was pretty sassy over my dress I might add!
Hope your weekend is filled with love and relaxation!

Hey, sassies! Just K checking in to give you a little update on my oh-so exciting life! Along with being a full time hairstylist and make up artist for Sunkissed and Made Up, I just started to take clients at a salon in Baytown, TX to keep up with all the girls that want me to do their hair (cut + color)! I’m only taking a few clients a week but I’m happy to be starting a new adventure doing what I love. I’m trying my best to keep my life busy and happy with trying to have a balance between on-the-go to just being content with doing nothing. It’s hard. I’ve had a few health and personal issues go on during the last two weeks and perhaps my body (and GOD) is telling me to slow down. I think as people of this society we are always looking for the next best thing. What will make us more money? What will make us have a bigger house? What will I do to make people respect me? I mean these are normal questions. We’ve lost sight in what’s important. Happiness. No one can create it for you. You can’t buy it. It may be in a pumpkin spice latte, but that’s not forever (sorry)! I’ve had somewhat of an epiphany and I’ve just realized to invest in myself and let everything happen on it’s own. God has this. All the trials and speed bumps – He put them there for a reason. I’ve also learned to not make excuses for people. I’m kinda done giving people hall passes for bad behavior just because it’s toxic. Why invest energy into something that just creates bad vibes and feelings? Not. Worth. It. This world will disappoint you over and over again, so let it be and put your faith and trust in our Lord. And pray! Don’t forget to pray.
On a lighter note, I visited the cutest little pumpkin patch with my sweet friend and co-worker, Candice (blogger behind Lots of Lovely) and of course we had to document our day, duh! Don’t let the flannel and black skinnies fool you, it was HOT! Let’s be real, we’re in Houston, TX and it doesn’t get cold till like…mid November but I really don’t care. If I want to wear long sleeves and booties, by golly I’m going to wear them! I’m in this all black wardrobe mood lately and I’m kind of loving it. Obvi I’m not the super edgy type so I like to mix my black’s with patterns and feminine accessories! Hope you enjoy!

Here’s a little inspiration for all of you other Southerners that are battling scorching heat, but you want oh so badly to break out your blanket scarves! The key is to pair your fall pieces with light-weight tops so you’re not melting. You can always dress for the season, you just have to be aware of your fabrics.

Hello, lovelies! We apologize for being M.I.A. as of lately, but we hope these looks make up for our absence. We had the absolute pleasure with shooting with the lovely and sweet as pie photography, Ling Wang. She was an absolute dream to work with! If you are needing any photography needs, you will not regret booking with her! If I do say so myself, she made us look pretty darn good. So hurry, hurry, hurry and have her do your portraits!
Like usual, we’re running around like chickens with our heads cut off. Hailey has been busy student teaching, and her exact words to describe the experience were “rewarding because of the littles, suicidal because of the coursework.” Thank goodness for Jesus and coffee! Soooooo there you have it, folks, for all of your ambitious soon-to-be teachers…we feel for you. Kailey, of course, is beautifying a million and a one Texas bride every weekend! Her job is pretty dang fun! Also, Kailey and the rest of the Sunkissed & Made Up girls created some BEAUTIFUL Halloween looks so you must check out their Instagram to get inspired!
