Happy Friday, friends! Paul is in Houston this weekend and I’m so excited to have a little date night on my side of the state tonight! Very rarely do we get a Friday night together so this evening will be a true treat.

For all you petite ladies out there, I’m sure I am not alone when I say that finding the perfect pair of jeans is an ever so dreaded task. I’m 5 ft and I don’t have the skinniest legs in the world, therefore standing in a dressing room, shimmying into a fresh pair of denim all the while fluorescent lighting is beaming down on you is a very sad activity. It took all of my 24 years to find my favorite place to buy denim and that place would be Madewell. No, this post is not sponsored in anyway. I am just completely obsessed with the quality of their denim, the not so scary price tag, and that they have so many options that make shopping for jeans fun.

I found these flared jeans a few months ago and it has taken sometime to figure out how to wear them with my body type. Flared jeans are just hard to style when you’re short. They can shorten yours legs by a mile if not worn and fitted correctly. Here are my tips to wearing this retro look while still looking proportional (and sexy.)

  1. High waisted flared jeans will make your legs appear slimmer and longer. I like mine to hit right below my belly button, typically your most flattering waistline.
  2. If you want them to be cropped, have them hit right above your ankles. Wear a sexy, chunky heel and you’ll look like Sharon Tate.
  3. If you want to wear them long, they need to hit the floor and cover your feet.
  4. To get the raw edge like mine, I took a pair of fabric scissors and cut them straight across. I then pulled at the edge to make the stitching come out.

Hailey and I are obsessed with the 70’s so obviously flared leg jeans are so fun for us to wear! Done right, they can be a sassy change from your every day jean style!
